The best part of these sessions is getting to know each other and how we work together with you. For us, it's a glimpse into what your wedding day will be like.
What time do we start our session? We start the session one to two hours before sunset depending on location. This way we can get the best natural light for your photos.
Where should we do our session? We will work with you to find the best location for you. What do you two like to do as a couple? We really try to find the best spot for you, whether it is in the city, beach, or field.
Can we wear more than one outfit? Yes! A lot of our couples bring more than one look. For instance, one outfit could be a cute summer dress and an evening look for your second outfit. Your outfit choices really depend on the look/feel you are going for. We are happy to help you find the best choices for your session!
Should I have my hair and makeup done for the session? We want you to look your best, and a little bit of pampering goes a long way in photos! You'll be gorgeous no matter what, but we can recommend professional hair stylists and makeup artists who will help you to look and feel amazing for the day of your session!
What happens after the session? After your session, you will receive an online gallery that you will be able to view/share photos with your friends and family. These photos are watermarked, but prints are available for purchase through your gallery. Clients typically chose to purchase prints, wall art, guest books or digital files after their session. If you want help to find the best fit for you, we offer complimentary in-studio ordering sessions so we can help you.
It's not our goal to orchestrate your day, but to capture it as it unfolds. Document the day naturally and beautifully, with a few laughs along the way.
What is your style of photography? Our goal is to provide you with a set of authentic, timeless and modern photos. Every wedding is different. Every couple is different, we shoot for you and will capture the emotion of your day.
Should I do a first look? We really can't answer that. Some of our couples want to keep the moment of seeing each other at the altar. Others want the private moment of seeing each other before the ceremony. I can say that we love these moments. We set you in place, but do not orchestrate your reactions, which is awesome. We love to photograph a groom tearing up when he sees his bride for the first time or the bride fixing the groom's bow tie. We love capturing the "you look beautiful" and the "I love you" moments. However, we also love to capture the groom's face over the bride's shoulder as she walks down the aisle. All of our couples are different and every wedding day is different. We will talk to you about timing of your day. If you are getting married at sunset and won't have any time after the ceremony, we will probably recommend a first look. If you want to spend most of the time at your cocktail hour, then a first look is perfect for you.
Are there always two photographers? Yes, all wedding packages come with two photographers. With two photographers we are able to capture different perspectives and different moments, happening at the same time. We are also able to capture getting ready simultaneously, reactions during the ceremony (of our couple and their guests), and more moments of the celebration. It's also great to get two different perspectives of a moment or portrait.
How much coverage do we get ? During your consultation, we will determine your estimated timeline of your wedding day and talk to you about how much coverage you are looking for. We have hourly and full-coverage packages. Typically, our clients are looking for 6-9 hours of coverage and we can come up with a custom package to fit your wedding timeline.
What happens after the wedding? Just like engagement sessions, you will receive an online, watermarked gallery. You are welcome to share with all of your guests, friends and family. Everyone will be able to purchase prints and digitals files from the site, which is also a great way to share your big day with the people that were unable to attend the wedding. We will set up a time to meet with you after the wedding to go over your album options and process. Our clients love to be able to choose their album after they have viewed the photos so they can customize their wedding album to the style of their photos.
Do you offer the digital files? Yes, we offer packages with a USB of all of the edited images with rights to reprint. This way, you will have access to all of your photos for years to come.
Why did you decide to photograph weddings? We've actually been asked this question a few times. Weddings are one of the most important days of your life. It's the day that you choose to say "I do" to the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with. It's pretty amazing. During your whole wedding, we are thinking about your album. The photos that you will look back at in 5, 10, 20 and 50 years from now. We are so lucky. You chose us to document a day you'll cherish and remember for the rest of your lives, spent with your closest friends and family. And we are humbled.
What have past clients said about your photography? We love our couples and are humbled by all of the love they spread via word-of-mouth referrals and written reviews! Here are a few testimonials, to give you an idea of our clients' reviews.
Wedding Photographers in Connecticut
Our work has been featured in a variety of popular blogs and wedding websites.
Destination weddings are amazing. Kelly and her husband were married in Jamaica over 10 years ago. Having a photographer you can meet before the day of your wedding and trust helps ease your mind that you will not be compromising on quality with a resort photographer on your wedding day.
Why should I hire a local photographer to travel for my destination wedding? We're going to be spending most of your wedding day with you, capturing moments that you'll remember for the rest of your lives. We focus on your emotions, your family and friends, and the art and beauty behind your day. For us, each destination is a new adventure, since we aren't just a resort photographer doing a job. We get beyond excited for destination weddings, and have traveled all over the east coast from Maine to Virginia. Our international travel includes Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This spring we'll be in Colorado. Like photography, travel is our passion, and we couldn't be happier when we're asked to photograph destination weddings.
How does travel work for a destination wedding? Each wedding and destination is different, so we quote you based on our estimated travel expenses. We can provide you with estimates based on the time of year, location, and timeline.
Can we do an engagement session with you beforehand? Yes! This is a great way to get to know us beforehand, so that you're comfortable in front of us on the day of your wedding. We'll get to know your style a little better, and you'll see how we work. This is one of the benefits of hiring someone before you get to your destination - you'll know us so much more than someone you just met on the day of the wedding!
Where are your dream destinations to photograph? Ohhhhhh...the list goes on & on... We dream of driving the California coastline (with a few side trips to Napa Valley), of the mountains and lakes in Colorado, and the New York City skyline at night. We can't wait to photograph in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, at Lake Como, Italy, and to capture a wedding in South Africa. Right about now we're itching to be photographing a ceremony in front of palm trees and the Caribbean coastline, and we've been dying to visit Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. Can you tell we love adventure?
Connecticut Portrait Photographers
We love being your lifetime photographers, from your wedding, to maternity photos, your newborn baby to your graduating senior.
What time do we start our sessions? Sessions are scheduled for approximately 1-2 hours before sunset, because we want to capture the gorgeous light within your images! Sessions include up to an hour of photography time, on-location.
What should we bring to the session? Every session is customized to you, but don't worry too much about props. We like to focus on you and your personality. For instance, some of our favorite images are the laughs you'll be sharing - the genuine stuff. Of course, we'll aim for some smiles, but the best stuff is always those candids of you just being you.
Where do you photograph portrait sessions? Our sessions are photographed on-location, with the exception of newborn sessions which are done in-studio. We've photographed everywhere from Newport's Cliff Walk to the Brooklyn Bridge, and we can suggest locations based on your style.
What does my session include? Each session includes up to an hour of photography time, our travel within CT, and your in-studio ordering session.
What should we wear? We suggest choosing coordinating outfits that aren't too matchy-matchy. We want you to look beautiful but also natural. Accessories such as jewelry, belts, shoes, scarves, etc. can help show off your style. Many of our clients have their hair and makeup done, and we can suggest some wonderful professional hair and makeup artists for your session!
How does the in-studio ordering session work? Because we focus on each individual client, we always meet with you at the studio a few weeks after your session. You'll get to see your photos in print, ask questions about products, and see all of our professional samples. Our studio offers professional prints, canvas wraps, wood prints, custom-designed albums, etc. We want you to have beautiful heirloom art to hang on your wall, and an album to show your grandchildren some day. Life is short, but these moments are so important to capture!
A collaboration between wedding vendors which helps inspire couples to create their dream wedding. These sessions are very detail-oriented since we have hours to photograph the tablescapes, floral designs and everything that goes into making your wedding day perfect. Whether you work alongside an event stylist or execute the details yourself, finding inspiration from a styled shoot helps to make your vision happen.
