I fell in love with this couple's story from the first time we talked over the phone about their wedding plans. High school sweethearts...awwwww! We met for the first time when I photographed their engagement session at Gouveia Vineyards, and they were so sweet together.
Here is their story: "Scott and I started dating in high school. Throughout the next 12 years (yup…12 years), we grew together as a couple, but always respected each other's differences. Scott has a tremendous love for cars while I enjoy shopping, photography, and keeping our life organized through check lists and spreadsheets.
After more than 10 years of dating, Scott finally proposed to me on November 6th of 2015 with a custom fortune cookie along with a gorgeous custom engagement ring! I was so overwhelmed with happiness that I could not stop crying, but through a stream of joyful tears I said YES!
When we started planning our wedding, it was so much fun! We would always find an excuse to go out for dinner and drinks. I did the bulk of the planning, but Scott was always there to help me make the final decisions and give his input on everything. I loved it when he would come home excited with a new idea for the wedding!
July 22nd was our wedding day, and it was absolutely perfect! The entire day we were surrounded by people who loved us! While getting ready, I was calm and beyond excited to see my future husband during our first look. However, when it came to our ceremony I could barely walk while trying so hard to control my emotions and keep the tears away. There was something about the combination of music, having my father walk me down the aisle, and knowing Scott was waiting at the end that made that particular moment so pure and full of emotion. Our wedding day would not have been complete without personal touches: we wrote our own vows that we read to each other in front of everyone, guest favors came from our favorite coffee shop, and of course we had custom fortune cookies for all of our guests to enjoy! The day was full of emotions…love, joy, laughter, and lots of dancing! And even though it was over in the blink of an eye, we will always have the memories, stories, and photographs of our special day!"
Future couples, take note - these guys had a first look and STILL had an amazing walk down the aisle (see above). I see this happen at many weddings with a first look, but I'm so happy to hear from one of our brides because she described it perfectly.
