Boho Wedding Vibes | Tannenbaum Alpine Events Wedding Photographers

From the bride: Paul & I met and started dating a almost decade ago in our junior year at Bentley University- we had mutual friends who I ended up living with my junior year and Paul was a constant presence in our dorm room. I'll spare you the details, but as the usual story goes, what started as a friendship grew into something much more. Over the last nine years, we graduated college, started our professional careers in Boston, then were given the opportunity to move to San Francisco to pursue a job opportunity. Upon arriving in San Francisco, the first weekend after we moved into our new apartment, Paul's friend Pat asked him to join on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe (in APRIL!). Paul eagerly obliged and obviously fell in love with the area: the skiing, the sunshine, the lake views from the slopes- not much to dislike! Lake Tahoe quickly became a special place for us after we brought my parents there on their first trip to visit us out west. In the almost four years we lived in San Francisco, we made frequent trips to Lake Tahoe to escape the city life and get closer to nature and skiing (for Paul).

This past December, Paul suggested we go to Lake Tahoe for an early Christmas gift before we headed back east to see our families for the holidays- it was an unusually warm weekend and while we were driving to our hotel around the west side of the lake, Paul suggested we stopped for a hike in Emerald Bay. After we arrived lakeside, we paused to take in the view- it was then that Paul dropped down and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes! Somewhat in shock of what had happened, and somewhat distracted by the hot tub and sauna that was awaiting me at our hotel, I uncharacteristically turned down the bottle of champagne he had been carrying in his hiking backpack for the entire trip. It is a much easier hike down to the lake with a full bottle of champagne than a hike up from the lake. That bottle of champagne didn't last too long after the celebrations began post-hike.

Only after the proposal did I fully appreciate that Paul's love for Lake Tahoe was something that was passed down from prior generations- the Christmas prior to proposing, Paul's mom had found an old book of postcards his grandparents had sent him as a child. Given his grandparents passed away while he was very young, the postcards are the greatest reminder of their lives. One of them caught Paul's eye- a postcard from his Grandfather Williams written while he was visiting Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, recounting all of the beauty of the area. Paul proposed in the exact spot that is pictured in that postcard, almost a year later.

It was so special for us to bring all our friends and family from across the country to the place that means so much to us- and we were so thrilled so many of them attended to share in our special day in our favorite place. We hope the beauty of Lake Tahoe stays with all of them for years to come like it has with us.

Timeless Ballroom Wedding at Aria | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

From the bride: “Jeff and I originally met through Tinder in September 2014. We did not realize right away how much we had in common, but it became quickly apparent that we were both giant nerds who both loved video games and board games. We also always wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons, and started our own group that regularly met to play early in 2015, something that has a special place in our hearts to this day.

We fell in love easily and quickly, and knew very early on in our relationship that we wanted to get married.

In July 2017, Jeff proposed on the last night of a family cruise to Bermuda. I am a very difficult person to surprise and he managed to pull it off. Through the engagement period, we built a house together, which was a lot to manage while simultaneously planning a wedding. Jeff and I faced these challenges with all of the grace we could muster, and we have learned that no matter what happens, we will always forgive, support, and love each other, through the highs and lows of our shared adventure.

We wrote our own vows, something I will always treasure and hold dear, and both ended our vows with the statement "I like you and I love you", which was a beautiful surprise on the day of the wedding.”

Winter Wedding at The Society Room | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

The couple’s story: Joe and Jackie met online. Joe asked Jackie out to happy hour at a little restaurant called Salute in downtown Hartford. Happy hour turned into closing down the bars on a Wednesday night, to then finding out that Jackie's car was locked in a parking garage at 2 AM. Joe, being the gentleman that he is, offered to give Jackie a ride home in the opposite direction of where he lived. The next morning, Joe picked Jackie up before work to bring her downtown to get her car. They immediately starting planning their second date, and from there were inseparable. Love at first sight was not something either of them believed in until they met each other. Jackie and Joe both knew they were meant for each other from the very start. Jackie even texted her best friend (and Maid of Honor) the very next day saying "I really think I'm going to end up marrying this guy."

Fast forward to the proposal, Joe and I had a trip planned to Maine last summer to visit his family for the week of July 4th. On our second day there Joe and I walked out to the end of the dock at his parent's lake house and he proposed. I was in so much shock, and when I turned around everyone was standing there watching us and he even flew my parents up there to witness the whole thing. It ended up being much more than just the 4th of July trip I was expecting.

Old Wethersfield Fall Engagement Session | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

As most of you know, we have a soft spot in our hearts for Old Wethersfield. I was married at The Webb Barn and our studio was located just down Main Street for years. We’ve spent many afternoons window shopping and grabbing lunch at Cove Deli, and The Webb Barn is one of our favorite rustic wedding venues to photograph! So of course I was excited when Amanda told me that John proposed to her down at the Cove and that they wanted to have their engagement session there! There’s nothing like fall in New England, and Old Wethersfield is small town perfection. We’re excited to be photographing Amanda & John’s wedding at The Lace Factory in 2019 - congratulations, you two!

Harkness Memorial State Park | Connecticut Engagement Sessions

Victoria & Mark's engagement session at Harkness Memorial State Park was lighthearted and fun, with a little bit of adventure mixed in. I love a good rock skipping session, and that little peninsula made for some beautiful reflection shots! Here are a few favorite highlights from this springtime session...

Mystic Aquarium Wedding | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

This wedding at Mystic Aquarium has to be one of my all-time favorites, due to the sheer fun factor of the venue and this particular couple! I mean, for reallllll...a Beluga Whale who splashes the bridal party?! Pretty sure you're going to love their story as much as I do. Huge thanks to my second shooter for the day, Jesse from On Point Images.

How we Met: "We were in geography club together in college and found a common love of Doctor Who and travel. We very quickly bonded and have been best friends ever since!"

The Proposal: "It was a massive surprise! We were on a trip to Disney World and it turns out he was plotting this entire thing for months before hand without me knowing! We were at Magic Kingdom and he pulled us (myself and his two friends WHO WERE ALSO in on it) over to Cinderella's wishing well next to the castle. He gave me a coin and told me to turn around and make a wish. I closed my eyes and threw the coin over my shoulder into the well and when I opened my eyes he was down on one knee! I was BEYOND shocked. I think I just stood there in shock for a few seconds before I said YES!"

Venue: "We choose Mystic Aquarium for the venue because we have a mutual love for the ocean and specifically conservation. Mystic is a conservation driven institution so naturally it was our first choice. We wanted to be able to share with everyone we love the amazing things Mystic Aquarium does!"

Details: "Our THEME if we had to choose was sustainability/ethics. We both have a lot of background in both and for us this being central to our wedding was of the greatest importance. My engagement ring is made of recycled metal and ethically sourced/ fair trade gemstones. Our wedding rings are made of recycled metal and resemble birch bark, a tribute to our favorite country, and where we someday hope to live, Iceland. Our flowers were exclusively things that were grown LOCALLY IN SEASON (not imported from other countries). Our outfits for the wedding were both handcrafted in Vermont by Tara Lynn (Tara Lynn Bridal) made of sustainable hemp, cotton, and silk fabrics. We also made the very deliberate choice of using TOMS shoes for ourselves (and my bridesmaids) because the shoes are ethically produced and for each pair purchased TOMS donates a pair to someone in need of shoes! Of course to explain my shoes (the bees), I have an undying love for bees, I would love to someday have my own hives. They are fantastic little producers and I do everything in my power to teach people what incredible insects they are!"
