The couple’s story: Joe and Jackie met online. Joe asked Jackie out to happy hour at a little restaurant called Salute in downtown Hartford. Happy hour turned into closing down the bars on a Wednesday night, to then finding out that Jackie's car was locked in a parking garage at 2 AM. Joe, being the gentleman that he is, offered to give Jackie a ride home in the opposite direction of where he lived. The next morning, Joe picked Jackie up before work to bring her downtown to get her car. They immediately starting planning their second date, and from there were inseparable. Love at first sight was not something either of them believed in until they met each other. Jackie and Joe both knew they were meant for each other from the very start. Jackie even texted her best friend (and Maid of Honor) the very next day saying "I really think I'm going to end up marrying this guy."
Fast forward to the proposal, Joe and I had a trip planned to Maine last summer to visit his family for the week of July 4th. On our second day there Joe and I walked out to the end of the dock at his parent's lake house and he proposed. I was in so much shock, and when I turned around everyone was standing there watching us and he even flew my parents up there to witness the whole thing. It ended up being much more than just the 4th of July trip I was expecting.

Summer Wedding at The Lace Factory by Connecticut Wedding Photographers
As most of you know, we have a soft spot in our hearts for Old Wethersfield. I was married at The Webb Barn and our studio was located just down Main Street for years. We’ve spent many afternoons window shopping and grabbing lunch at Cove Deli, and The Webb Barn is one of our favorite rustic wedding venues to photograph! So of course I was excited when Amanda told me that John proposed to her down at the Cove and that they wanted to have their engagement session there! There’s nothing like fall in New England, and Old Wethersfield is small town perfection. We’re excited to be photographing Amanda & John’s wedding at The Lace Factory in 2019 - congratulations, you two!
Laura & Brian’s destination wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa was A-MAZing. When we photograph destination weddings, we’re able to meet our couples up in the U.S. beforehand. Laura & I sat at the studio together so she could tell me all about their wedding plans while I asked questions about travel, timeline, and style for the day. Mary Beth Morrissey accompanied me for the trip to Cancun as a second shooter for this wedding, and we had so much fun getting to know Laura & Brian’s friends and family throughout the week we spent in Mexico.
Destination weddings are always both so unique and laid-back, with friends & family coming from all over the world. Each destination wedding photography package is designed to cover what the couple needs for the wedding day, as well as time for photography scouting and meeting with the event coordinator beforehand if there are questions. We absolutely love destination weddings.
Victoria & Mark's engagement session at Harkness Memorial State Park was lighthearted and fun, with a little bit of adventure mixed in. I love a good rock skipping session, and that little peninsula made for some beautiful reflection shots! Here are a few favorite highlights from this springtime session...
There is nothing better than when our clients come back to us after their wedding! It often feels like our clients are good friends after we've gotten to know them through the wedding process. Heather and Ricky had a Boston engagement session and we photographed their wedding in Middletown, CT (which was GORGEOUS). We stay in touch a little via social media, but it was so nice to see them again to photograph a maternity session. Heather and I share a love for Outlander and Harry Potter (really, all reading...), traveling, pets, and I can't wait to follow her and Ricky's parenting journey!
Stephanie and Craig's waterfall engagement session was SO much fun! We climbed down into the area near the falls, which was quite the adventure. Take note - I cannot WAIT to do more sessions like this...
Here is a little more about their story:
On February 14th, 2013 Craig asked me to be his girlfriend after coming home from work that day. He had flowers and chocolates for me and I knew he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. He caters to me each and every day when I don't ask that of him. On the night of Christmas Eve in 2016 we were at his family's house and it was getting late. I was exhausted and had absolutely no idea what was about to happen. He took me into the dining room, got down on one knee and opened up the ring box and asked me to marry him. He picked the ring out all by himself and he did an amazing job! We set the date of August 25, 2018 to become Husband and Wife. This has truly been the journey of a lifetime so far and we have so many more memories to make!
Late spring to early summer is always one of my favorite seasons of the year. School is letting out (former teacher here, hahaha), everything is in bloom, and the weather is just about perfect! I met Kerry & Adam for their engagement session on Tuesday, and we hung out on the bridge for their photos. If you haven't been to the Drake Hill Flower Bridge, I suggest checking it out this summer then stopping in for a wine tasting at Rosedale Vineyards just down the road! We've photographed here many times before for weddings at the Riverview in Simsbury as well as Simsbury Inn weddings, and it never disappoints.
I'm so happy for these guys, and we're excited to photograph their upcoming wedding!
When I talked with Ariel the week before her wedding, we were talking about how we both hoped they would have just the perfect amount of snowfall for the day. Lucky for all of us, the morning snow coated the trees and created that little bit of extra excitement that we all feel during the early winter snowy days.
Ariel and her bridesmaids got ready in a suite at The Simsbury Inn with champagne toasts and mimosas. You could feel the anticipation and that tiny bit of nervousness in the room. Getting ready photos are one of my favorite parts of the wedding day because there is time to focus on the pretty details and all of the fun of the wedding prep.
Merrick met us at The Simsbury Inn where the couple had their first look on the grand staircase in the lobby. First look is that one moment of the day when the couple is together without their guests and open to the raw emotion of the day. We've seen hands up excitement, ear-to-ear smiles, and happy tears. Every couple's first look is different, and it's always one of the most anticipated moments of the day.
Once we arrived at The Riverview for the wedding ceremony and reception, the bridal party ventured outside for portraits. We began where the snow was cleared, then walked behind the venue where our kick-butt second shooter (huge thanks to Luke Furtney) had personally shoveled the bridal party a path to have somewhere to stand for snowy photos.
The wedding ceremony featured a beautiful Chuppah with lots of gold and floral detail. It was one of those ceremonies where the uplighting is perfectly paired with the couple's style and adds just the right touch of elegance.
By the time the reception began, everyone was ready to eat, drink, and have fun! Thank you to the wonderful team of vendors who worked together making this wedding such a perfect day.

Mimosas with the bridesmaids during getting ready, beautiful bridal styling for hair & makeup, fun candids, and an intimate church ceremony with their closest friends and family in Bolton, CT. From there, the bridal party traveled by limo to Elizabeth Park, where we walked around the manicured grounds for their formal wedding portraits.
Elizabeth & Andrew's reception was held at the Pond House Cafe, in West Hartford. Dancing the night away among the drapery and twinkling lights, they celebrated the night in style with their guests.
Caroline and Tom's wedding at the Boat Shed in Mystic Seaport was every little bit of perfect. The bride got dressed at a private house overlooking the Long Island Sound, with the couple's first look on a dock overlooking Stonington Borough. Their stunning portraits were taken along the water in Stonington before everyone headed over to Mystic Seaport.
Each and every time we photograph a wedding at Mystic Seaport, I'm in awe of the historic beauty. With sailboats and yachts surrounding the Lighthouse, the ceremony is always memorable and filled with a little bit of whimsy.
This rustic and nautical venue is a blank slate, leaving couples to get creative with their wedding details and decor. Market lights are strung across the lofted ceiling, and it all feels so organic.
