Backyard Tented Wedding | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

My first wedding in Ellington, CT!!!!! I was so excited to photograph Jessica & Eric's wedding because Ellington is my hometown. This was a beautiful backyard tented wedding at Jessica's parents' home, overlooking the town from the hill. Seriously - the view was a stunner. For those of you familiar with town, we were close to the Ellington Airport and could see much of "downtown".

Jessica's gown had delicate lace and beading, and her reception dress was perfect for both dancing and mingling. It had hints of blush pink, matching her bridal party perfectly. We photographed their outdoor wedding ceremony along benches overlooking the view, where they performed a sand ceremony that included Jessica's daughter. It was such a sweet moment and one of those emotion-filled portions of the day that we love capturing.

Between the bridal party portraits and the tented candlelit reception, there was no shortage of fun moments, but my favorite was probably The Cupcake Bug! Luann's Bakery in Ellington, CT provided the cake and desserts for the wedding, sending the cupcakes in a VW Bug during the reception.

Thank you for choosing us as your wedding photographers! We had fun with you two and your entire day was absolutely wonderful! XOXO, Kathy

Elizabeth Park Engagement Session | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

This beautiful fall engagement session was on one of these crazy warm October evenings we've had, when the light was just perfect. Sam & Josh were so relaxed and laid-back, which made for a great set of photographs that included a mix of candid and posed (the candids are always my favorite because they show personality).

Here's a bit of their story...

"So Josh and I grew up in the same town and went to the same high school, but never knew each other. We ended up meeting at CCSU in 2012. We met in a communications class called Persuasion/Social Influence, which was kind of ironic, haha. We dated for 4 years and then went on a trip to St. Maarten with Josh’s family. The night of December 4th, a few days into the trip, he took me out onto a dock at our resort to “take selfies with the sunset”. I was surprised by this, and I had no idea what he was planning.

After we took some selfies, a family of 3 ran onto the dock and the mother asked us to take pictures of her kids jumping in the water. Josh looked really flustered and annoyed, which was unlike him. Little did I know, he wanted to propose as the sun was setting, before it fell beyond the horizon, and his family was waiting on the beach to get pictures. The family finally left and I had a hunch that something amazing was about to happen. He proposed just in time on that dock as the sun was setting.

I said yes, through many tears. It was the sweetest moment, but pretty funny! He was so thrown off by the family. But it all worked out!"

XOXO, Sam & Josh - we cannot wait for your upcoming wedding!!!

The Waterview | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Sarah & Nick's wedding was one of those days where everything just goes perfectly. They chose to do a "first touch" before the wedding ceremony and exchanged handwritten letters with one another, in lieu of a first look. The grounds at The Waterview were a gorgeous backdrop for their ceremony and their ballroom provided a mix of elegance and whimsy through the floral design. It was easy to find little touches of their personalities and their relationship together, but my favorite has to be the LEGO bride and groom in front of their cake! We ended the night with a few night photos outside near the fountain before saying goodnight. XOXO, Sarah & Nick! We are so happy for you both and hope you are able to reminisce over your day and remember all of the moments that made it truly yours!

Webb Barn Wedding | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

We could photograph one hundred weddings at The Webb Barn and none of them would be the same. Every wedding is so different, with fun details that make the wedding day unique. Lauren & Bob's wedding was just that! When we met in-studio, they described their wedding plans for an afternoon of spending time with their friends and family outdoors playing lawn games. They weren't sure which traditions they were going to have at their wedding, which started with a first look in Hartford.

There was a little bit of rain to start the day, but their first look plans helped so that they weren't rushing around during the reception to get all of their group photos taken. Two reactions...two photographers. We try to position ourselves as best as possible to capture both of you as you first see each other on your wedding day, without ruining the moment. As important as the photographs will become to you after the wedding...first and foremost, we want you to enjoy the day.

The rain started clearing up around the time of their ceremony, making it the perfect afternoon for celebrating with lawn games outdoors and a slice of pie from Granny's Pie Factory.

Lauren & Bob, may your travels never cease and you always find time for the fun in life. Best wishes for a long & happy marriage together. XOXO

Webb Barn Wedding | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Libby & Paul said their, "I Do's" on Saturday at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield Connecticut with just the perfect bit of sun peeking out from the clouds. Libby and her bridesmaids got ready in Old Wethersfield at Larissa Lake & Co. and I was so excited to finally see Larissa's new space, as we watched it being built on a daily basis going to/from the studio in Wethersfield. Lots of natural light from the windows, mirrors and little details everywhere. Local brides, take note - this is a beautiful spot for getting ready on your wedding day!

From there, the ladies traveled to the house where Libby grew up, to finish getting ready before the ceremony. Her mom and her bridesmaids helped her get into her gown, shoes, and jewelry. How classic and elegant is the pearl necklace she wore? I found out that day that those pearls belong to her grandmother, which makes the sentiment just as beautiful as the necklace itself.

I've photographed many weddings at the Webb Barn, and each one is special to me because it's where I was married almost 8 years ago (this month!!) I remember stepping out of the barn and seeing all of our guests and just feeling so much love. Pretty easy to imagine this is how Libby was feeling as her father walked her down the aisle. That moment of anticipation before the bride and groom have seen each other, the nervousness and excitement, those happy tears. Libby shed a few happy tears, and it was clear from Paul's face during the ceremony how head-over-heels in love he is with her.

These two were all smiles through the rest of the wedding, and came RUNNING when the guests saw a double rainbow outside on the lawn. Everyone always tells us that it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day, but I think having a rainbow must be exponentially better. Their wedding reception inside the barn was filled with great music and dancing, and we were able to end the evening with a night photo outside - my favorite! One last photo, ending on a perfect note.
