Timeless Ballroom Wedding at Aria | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

From the bride: “Jeff and I originally met through Tinder in September 2014. We did not realize right away how much we had in common, but it became quickly apparent that we were both giant nerds who both loved video games and board games. We also always wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons, and started our own group that regularly met to play early in 2015, something that has a special place in our hearts to this day.

We fell in love easily and quickly, and knew very early on in our relationship that we wanted to get married.

In July 2017, Jeff proposed on the last night of a family cruise to Bermuda. I am a very difficult person to surprise and he managed to pull it off. Through the engagement period, we built a house together, which was a lot to manage while simultaneously planning a wedding. Jeff and I faced these challenges with all of the grace we could muster, and we have learned that no matter what happens, we will always forgive, support, and love each other, through the highs and lows of our shared adventure.

We wrote our own vows, something I will always treasure and hold dear, and both ended our vows with the statement "I like you and I love you", which was a beautiful surprise on the day of the wedding.”

Groom's Gift Boudoir Session | Connecticut Boudoir Photographers

You KNOW he’s going to loveeeeee getting this set of gorgeous boudoir images in his boudoir album!!! She’s gifting it to him as a surprise, as many of our boudoir clients do. This set of photographs is just a portion of what he’ll see…

A boudoir session at our studio begins with your professional hair & makeup next door from Kissandmakeup - a Connecticut Hair & Makeup Artist. You can inquire about availability for your hair/makeup service directly through their website, depending on what you’re looking for on the day of your session. They will quote you on services and when I say they’ll make you look and feel amazing…I mean, AMAZING. These ladies are insanely talented with brushes, to say the least, and their studio is adjacent to ours with a shared lobby space.

Once you enter our studio, we’ll look at your outfits and accessories together to plan the flow for what will work best for your session. Favorite music - Spotify! We’ll begin by helping direct you into poses that flatter your body and personality - because we can all agree a great smile, beautiful eyes, and a confident attitude are the most sexy features a woman can put on, right?

This session was part one of two, with two friends booking back-to-back sessions. Needless to say, they were less nervous and laughed more by supporting one another. Next session coming up this week on our social media and blog…stay tuned!

Following your session, you’ll visit our studio again for your ordering session. You’ll sit down to a slideshow to view your images, then look through the full set of matted photographic proofs in print. This experience lets you focus on choosing the photos that really show your beauty and confidence, so that your album and wall art is truly something you’ll be proud of showing off. We can offer advice when you have questions, rather than handing you a download or a disc and sending you on your way. Boudoir is an experience every woman should do at least once in her life!

Saltwater Farm Vineyard Wedding in the Fall | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

From the bride: I met Jeff when I was 15. We were high school sweethearts who dated on and off through college (you know how that goes!) After that we went our separate ways for years and funny enough, I do believe fate brought us back together. We kept randomly running into each other at different places and we’ve been back together ever since!

He proposed to me the day after Labor Day in September last year at our first home together. We were away that whole weekend in NH and RI and he had the ring on him but couldn’t find the right time. He said he just couldn’t wait any longer! I’ll never forget that moment - it was in the middle of a crazy thunderstorm. I walked up the stairs after my hair appt to see champagne, flowers, the ring on our table. I was so shocked because I never thought he would do it at home!

He called both our parents prior and they all came over and we celebrated together 🥂 Don’t ask me what he said during the proposal - I think I blacked out!! Haha!

Simply K Studios: Photographing Melissa & Jeff’s wedding was like watching two of your best friends get married. They were so happy and we love capturing all of the pure emotion of happy tears and laughter on a wedding day. Thank you for trusting us with your wedding vision, Melissa & Jeff! Congratulations and best wishes for a long & happy marriage together. XOXO

Special thanks to Jessica Odaynik, who was our second photographer for this wedding!

This beautiful couple is none other than my sister-in-law and my new brother-in-law! I couldn't be happier for them and was so excited for them, starting from the moment Brian proposed to Sarah in Maine! You may remember seeing their Ogunquit, Maine engagement session from last year... If not...go check it out now! We love photographing in new places and traveling to meet up with our couples.

Sarah & Brian's wedding day was a little bit on the rainy side, but we had the perfect amount of cloudy mist for their first look and portraits outdoors before the ceremony! Sarah's pastor officiated their wedding ceremony, with a braided rope tie (brides, take note - what a great idea!), unity candle lighting, readings by her brothers (including MY HUBS), a beautiful solo of "Wherever You Go" (David Haas) by Sarah's mom, and communion taken by the bride and groom. The reception was filled with personal details with a baseball theme, since they met playing softball! Soooo many fun ideas here, like a concession stand for their wedding favors, and tickets as escort cards! See that cake topper??? Custom-made by the bride's talented father, who hand-carved the topper himself! What is better than personalized details that really tell your story as a couple on the day of your wedding?!

I love weddings with a mix of DIY and stylist/planner ideas incorporated in, because everything comes together so nicely and there is less stress for the bride and groom on the actual wedding day. You'll hear from the stylist below, on how the planning process went and how she works with couples!

Shannon Downey, Owner of More Than a Moment:

When I was asked to help create details that had an underlying baseball theme for Sarah & Brian’s wedding day I was beyond excited. I am a baseball girl at heart and grew up playing softball and cheering on the Red Sox. One of my favorite things to do as an event stylist is to help personalize each couple’s day in a way that is unique to their individual personalities.

Sarah and Brian love the Red Sox and she wanted to incorporate this into their theme without it being too overbearing. Sarah and her mom wanted to partake in the DIY aspect of their wedding while also being able to delegate certain tasks to myself. I helped guide them in the painting process of their distressed mason jars as well as the overall color scheme for the day. Sarah knew she wanted to do a concession stand as a focal point for the favor aspect of the wedding day. I assisted in giving input towards the layout of this table but Sarah and her mom did most of the ordering and display mock-ups for me to implement on the day of.

Other ways we incorporated the baseball theme was through the seating chart and the overall vibe of the signage throughout the venue. I always work with my couples to choose a font and colors that fit their theme and then we use these multiple times during the design process. For Sarah and Brian it meant using their pink and blue colors with a touch of the ivory and red accents.

One of my favorite things to create for their wedding was the seating chart display. Instead of your standard tented escort cards they opted for my suggestion of “tickets” that would show which table the guest was seated at. The tables were named after famous Red Sox players to coincide with the theme. I was able to utilize the budget they gave me to purchase some additional décor that fit the baseball vibe such as a few Louisville Slugger bats, some extra baseballs and some good ol’ fashioned peanuts.

My favorite part is pulling everything together the day of that we have worked so hard on. From the seating chart to the welcome table to the cupcake display the details were executed in a style that said “Sarah and Brian” while still exuding some wedding elegance.  Everything had a touch of Sarah’s hard work as well as my professional eye for execution and layout.

The most gratifying part of what I do is seeing my couples at the end of the night, once the celebration has come to a close, and they are able to reflect on everything coming together in just the way they had imagined during the planning process!

Connecticut Wedding Photographers | Wedding at The Publick House

Julie and Jerry's wedding this past Friday at The Publick House was filled with love, laughter, and a crazy downpour during the bridal party formals. If you haven't been to The Publick House lately, I suggest making a trip up to Sturbridge, MA this summer and checking out their pastry shoppe and restaurant. It is a beautiful and quaint historic inn with a ton of charm, making the perfect backdrop for beautiful wedding photos.

The bride got ready in the Chamberlain House, where we were greeted by a vaulted ceiling complete with full chandelier. Her traveling makeup artist, Katie from KiSSandMaKeUp in Connecticut drove to Sturbridge, as well. Julie's first look with her dad was beyond sweet, and I was waiting for tears to fall during her and Jerry's first touch just outside of the barn.

First touch is for those couples who have extra time built into their timeline for a quick moment together before the ceremony, but who do not want to actually see each other beforehand. These two held hands around one of the barn doors, where they got to share their nervousness and excitement before walking down the aisle.

After saying their, "I Do's" and beginning group photos there was a little sprinkle of rain. Not a moment later it was a FULL DOWNPOUR, sending everyone running back to the tent. We captured a few portraits of Julie and Jerry around the venue before heading in to their tented reception.

I could not be happier for these two, and send my best wishes for a long and happy marriage together! May you always be surrounded by loving friends/family and remember to smile through the rain.
