Winter Wedding at The Society Room | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

The couple’s story: Joe and Jackie met online. Joe asked Jackie out to happy hour at a little restaurant called Salute in downtown Hartford. Happy hour turned into closing down the bars on a Wednesday night, to then finding out that Jackie's car was locked in a parking garage at 2 AM. Joe, being the gentleman that he is, offered to give Jackie a ride home in the opposite direction of where he lived. The next morning, Joe picked Jackie up before work to bring her downtown to get her car. They immediately starting planning their second date, and from there were inseparable. Love at first sight was not something either of them believed in until they met each other. Jackie and Joe both knew they were meant for each other from the very start. Jackie even texted her best friend (and Maid of Honor) the very next day saying "I really think I'm going to end up marrying this guy."

Fast forward to the proposal, Joe and I had a trip planned to Maine last summer to visit his family for the week of July 4th. On our second day there Joe and I walked out to the end of the dock at his parent's lake house and he proposed. I was in so much shock, and when I turned around everyone was standing there watching us and he even flew my parents up there to witness the whole thing. It ended up being much more than just the 4th of July trip I was expecting.

Saltwater Farm Vineyard Wedding in the Fall | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

From the bride: I met Jeff when I was 15. We were high school sweethearts who dated on and off through college (you know how that goes!) After that we went our separate ways for years and funny enough, I do believe fate brought us back together. We kept randomly running into each other at different places and we’ve been back together ever since!

He proposed to me the day after Labor Day in September last year at our first home together. We were away that whole weekend in NH and RI and he had the ring on him but couldn’t find the right time. He said he just couldn’t wait any longer! I’ll never forget that moment - it was in the middle of a crazy thunderstorm. I walked up the stairs after my hair appt to see champagne, flowers, the ring on our table. I was so shocked because I never thought he would do it at home!

He called both our parents prior and they all came over and we celebrated together 🥂 Don’t ask me what he said during the proposal - I think I blacked out!! Haha!

Simply K Studios: Photographing Melissa & Jeff’s wedding was like watching two of your best friends get married. They were so happy and we love capturing all of the pure emotion of happy tears and laughter on a wedding day. Thank you for trusting us with your wedding vision, Melissa & Jeff! Congratulations and best wishes for a long & happy marriage together. XOXO

Special thanks to Jessica Odaynik, who was our second photographer for this wedding!

Old Wethersfield Fall Engagement Session | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

As most of you know, we have a soft spot in our hearts for Old Wethersfield. I was married at The Webb Barn and our studio was located just down Main Street for years. We’ve spent many afternoons window shopping and grabbing lunch at Cove Deli, and The Webb Barn is one of our favorite rustic wedding venues to photograph! So of course I was excited when Amanda told me that John proposed to her down at the Cove and that they wanted to have their engagement session there! There’s nothing like fall in New England, and Old Wethersfield is small town perfection. We’re excited to be photographing Amanda & John’s wedding at The Lace Factory in 2019 - congratulations, you two!

Griswold Point Tented Wedding in Old Lyme | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Luke and I met the summer before our junior year of college at the Connecticut Fire Academy where we became certified interior firefighters after many years with our local town departments. After many ice cream dates and wake boarding trips we decided to make long distance work through college, then moved across the country to Arizona together to start our careers.

Now in Virginia, we admittedly enjoy our time together the most when we’re hiking, hunting, and playing with our Labrador, Sophie. Luke proposed at my family's home in Weekapaug, RI with my family and our dog present to celebrate our excitement together. I love that Luke can make me laugh no matter my mood and our similar devotion to our families and the outdoors.

When we were planning our wedding back in Connecticut, we wanted to make our special day feel like it involved all of the things we hold closest to our hearts, namely home. Our venue, caterer, florist and of course photographer were all friends or family that we felt tied to as we became immersed in planning this special event.

Harkness Memorial State Park | Connecticut Engagement Sessions

Victoria & Mark's engagement session at Harkness Memorial State Park was lighthearted and fun, with a little bit of adventure mixed in. I love a good rock skipping session, and that little peninsula made for some beautiful reflection shots! Here are a few favorite highlights from this springtime session...

Fall Engagement Session | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Emily & Patrick's engagement session on the CT shoreline ended up falling on one of the nicest weekends of the month, and we chased some gorgeous light around the park. In the most random coincidence EVER, we found out that our families spend part of summer vacation at the same set of cottages on Sebago Lake in Maine!! I was crazy-excited when we discovered this, because no one has ever heard of where we stay, so it was a HUGE coincidence. Here's a little more of their story...

"Patrick and I met about a year and a half ago and knowing both our love for wine, our first date consisted of just that: a wine tasting. And naturally, we hit it off. With me being fairly new to the area after relocating from North Dakota for a job in western Massachusetts, and with my line of work being hockey at the time, there was some hesitation on whether I'd be on the east coast for long or whether my job would take me elsewhere. Patrick is a teacher and football coach in Springfield and is originally from Connecticut, so he was pretty set. Our affection continued to grow and we knew that even if we both had to move, we'd make it work.

Fast forward through countless wine dates, trips to North Dakota to meet family, east coast adventures and vacations, we found ourselves in Newport in November to celebrate the end of Patrick's football season. We were in the midst of touring the mansions when he took me aside on the back lawn of the Breakers mansion overlooking the ocean, when he got down on one knee, with a stunning ring, and asked me to spend forever with him. He was emotional, I was emotional, it was a total surprise, and it was perfect!

Fall is our favorite time of the year, so we're jumping into planning our midwest October 2018 wedding! Our engagement photo session was absolutely perfect and set the tone perfectly for our rustic barn wedding!"

RIVERHOUSE AT GOODSPEED STATION | CT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

Ashley and Kevin were married this weekend at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, a great wedding staple in CT offering brides beautiful facilities close to the river for gorgeous photos!  With help from their family, Ashley and Kevin planned their gorgeous wedding from a distance.  A lot of our couples are from out of state and we try to make it as easy for them as possible.  Emails and phone calls made for easy planning and their day went perfectly!

We are so honored to have been a part of your day. Congratulations you two!

Webb Barn Wedding | Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Libby & Paul said their, "I Do's" on Saturday at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield Connecticut with just the perfect bit of sun peeking out from the clouds. Libby and her bridesmaids got ready in Old Wethersfield at Larissa Lake & Co. and I was so excited to finally see Larissa's new space, as we watched it being built on a daily basis going to/from the studio in Wethersfield. Lots of natural light from the windows, mirrors and little details everywhere. Local brides, take note - this is a beautiful spot for getting ready on your wedding day!

From there, the ladies traveled to the house where Libby grew up, to finish getting ready before the ceremony. Her mom and her bridesmaids helped her get into her gown, shoes, and jewelry. How classic and elegant is the pearl necklace she wore? I found out that day that those pearls belong to her grandmother, which makes the sentiment just as beautiful as the necklace itself.

I've photographed many weddings at the Webb Barn, and each one is special to me because it's where I was married almost 8 years ago (this month!!) I remember stepping out of the barn and seeing all of our guests and just feeling so much love. Pretty easy to imagine this is how Libby was feeling as her father walked her down the aisle. That moment of anticipation before the bride and groom have seen each other, the nervousness and excitement, those happy tears. Libby shed a few happy tears, and it was clear from Paul's face during the ceremony how head-over-heels in love he is with her.

These two were all smiles through the rest of the wedding, and came RUNNING when the guests saw a double rainbow outside on the lawn. Everyone always tells us that it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day, but I think having a rainbow must be exponentially better. Their wedding reception inside the barn was filled with great music and dancing, and we were able to end the evening with a night photo outside - my favorite! One last photo, ending on a perfect note.

Destination Wedding Photographers | Silverthorne, CO Wedding

Photographing Ashton & Tom's wedding in Colorado was a dream come true! Nestled in the mountains, Silverthorne, CO is within minutes of Frisco and Breckenridge. Gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains, and soooo much to do! We traveled there at the end of May for an extended visit, checking out Denver, Boulder, Frisco, and Breckenridge on the trip.

Ashton and Tom celebrated with friends and family from all over the country, many of whom flew in for their wedding weekend. Their first look was just outside the Silverthorne Pavilion, on a bridge over the river. Ashton's lace dress was beautiful and paired perfectly with a pair of cowboy boots, while Tom wore a gray suit with navy accents. From there, we drove up a private dirt road overlooking the mountains for their formal and group portraits. Ahhhh-mazing views, and there was a herd of elk just grazing in a field next to us. Does it even get more perfect than that?!

With a ceremony that consisted of vows they wrote themselves and a craft beer pour, it was truly a beautiful moment to witness. I've known Ashton for years, and it was such an honor to photograph this wedding. Ashton, I'm so seriously happy for you and Tom :)

During their wedding reception at Silverthorne Pavilion in Silverthorne, CO is when I fell in love with the Ed Sheeran song, Perfect. Sooo in love. Ha, I mean, it's even in the lyrics. I've been into Ed Sheeran on Spotify for a couple of years, but this is my new fave. Maybe he'll come to Red Rocks soon (see below - who's in?!) Ashton and Tom had a choreographed dance and it was just the most perfect first dance ever. But I legit LOVED when Ashton and her dad danced to one of my all-time favorite country songs (Austin) as part of their choreographed mashup. Ahhhhh, I love stuff like this. Weddings are such a memorable day to be yourselves and intertwine your fun personalities into the traditions.

In short, their wedding was one of those I'll probably remember for the rest of my life. Love you guys! Thank you for introducing us to your beautiful state - I cannot wait to come back someday soon!

Here are a few of my favorite suggestions for anyone taking a trip to CO in the near future:

Foodie favorites: Denver Biscuit Company (think crazy amazing sandwiches like chicken cordon bleu with honey on a homemade biscuit). Jelly (ummm...fresh hot maple bacon donut bites) for breakfast in Denver. Pasta Jay's in Boulder for outdoor seating and a crazy good Italian pasta dish. Buff's for breakfast in Boulder, CO (they had cinnamon pecan quesadillas with a glaze dip for breakfast...OMG).

Things to do in CO: we began our trip in Denver, shopping at the Tattered Cover Bookstore. Absolutely in love with this unique & funky spot where you can get a coffee and browse handwritten recommendations within the shelves. Possibly my favorite bookstore ever, but I'm nerdy like that. In Boulder we window shopped along Pearl St. where I tried a blueberry cheesecake popsicle (soooo good - foodies, take note!) and hit up a couple more bookstores. Found a first edition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn that I seriously wanted to take home, but talked myself out of at the last-minute (only so much could fit in my suitcase and camera gear bag). While we were in Boulder we hiked a portion of the Flatirons trail at Chautauqua Park, which overlooked the city, and had some delicious shrimp tacos with margaritas for lunch at Centro. On our way to Silverthorne, we drove through a snow/ice storm. Yeah, it was late May, and still snowing in the mountains. One of the shop owners at a cute little spice/tea shop we found said that it can snow through June. But...snow is so much prettier when you're traveling in a fun place and there are mountains! It was still a little chilly by the time we got to Silverthorne, so we hit up an escape room in Frisco with a group of random guys from Texas. One was wearing flip flops while it snowed! While we didn't beat any records, it was a great time and we followed it up with a stop in a German pub afterwards. Breckenridge didn't disappoint, either - had the most amazing egg strata with Mexican hot chocolate for breakfast (I'm clearly a foodie, at heart) when we stopped at Park & Main the next morning. On our way back to Denver after the wedding, we stopped for a walk around Red Rocks, which quickly became the newest item on my bucket list. Who wants to go see a show there with me?! Picked up a couple of souvenirs at Dinosaur Ridge (yes, we actually went to see real dinosaur bones...so freaking cool!) for my daughter, who is obsessed.
